Since the first COVID-19 case reported in Nicaragua, around 36 health workers have died with symptoms of the disease.

None of the staff in the first line of defense fighting against the virus have been officially reported as a COVID-19 death by the Ministry of Health.

However, a recent investigation conducted by La Prensa de Nicaragua, has told the story of at least three doctors who died from the disease, a fact confirmed by their families.
