The South American country set a record of 1,473 new deaths caused by the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 34,021 and over 600,000 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, making it the third most affected country in the world.

The Ministry of Health announced in an official statement that this is the third consecutive day that the number of deaths has surpassed the record, as the number of deaths in the last two days were 1,262 and 1,349, respectively.

The de-escalation process is being promoted by President Jair Bolsonaro, who even described the COVID-19 as a «little flu», and this has been one of the reasons for the high number of deaths.
