President Nayib Bukele and his government have initiated construction of Latin America’s largest hospital, at the International Exhibitions and Conventions Center of El Salvador (CIFCO) by its acronyms in spanish, the hospital will assist COVID-19 patients.

The ministry of infrastructure and development, has started excavations at the parking lot of the convention center, where a 3 level hospital will be built with a capacity to assist 2,300 patients affected by the COVID-19 virus, the temporary hospital will have 2,000 regular beds and 300 beds for ICU patients.

The minister of infrastructure and development, Romeo Rodriguez said they will hire the construction company in the shortest possible time, so they can start building the hospital as an urgent matter. The hospital will have a cost of 70 million dollars and will be ready in 75 days.

At the same time, employees of this entity are working hard on adapting two floors of the Central American pavilion, the largest of the convention center, where there will be another area to provide care to those affected by the virus.

The ministry of infrastructure and development has put all its efforts on helping the country face the pandemic, they have adapted all quarantine centers and all public transportation rules.
