New York City Mayor Announces Curfew due to Protest

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a citywide curfew from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am local time in response to the protests generated by the death of George Floyd.

The mayor announced that the decision was made after a conversation with Governor Andrew Cuomo, «We support peaceful protests,» wrote the mayor, referring that the closure was because of the ongoing violence.

On Sunday, at least 140 U.S. cities held demonstrations against police brutality and racism, according to local media reports.
