Tropical storm Cristóbal, threatens to cause severe flooding in parts of southern Mexico and Central America.

The storm is likely to move across the southern Gulf of Mexico during the week before turning northward across the Gulf, meteorologists said. Because of the storm’s path, it is likely to reach the United States, but it is not yet possible to measure the impact.

Mexico has activated the tropical storm warning from Campeche to the port of Veracruz, although the biggest effect would probably be a rainfall of 15 to 30 centimeters.
